First-rank frigate with a displacement of 4,000 tons, designed for anti-submarine warfare. She will feature extended self-defense and special forces projection capabilities. Finally, she will integrate THALES’ new SEA FIRE four-antenna planar radar and will be equipped with MBDA’s Aster 30 missiles. The belh@rra frigate will benefit from state-of-the-art digital technologies. In particular, it will be equipped with a latest-generation combat system. This will provide faster tactical analysis, decision-making and weapons deployment. The integration of the latest digital technologies will enable the ship to evolve for almost forty years. Information processing systems will be upgraded incrementally to adapt to changes in the employment context, future threats and the short renewal cycles of new technologies.

Barracuda is the new-generation French SNA that will replace the previous Rubis-type SNAs. Barracuda has been designed to incorporate the very latest innovations and enhance the performance of the French ANS fleet for the future.
The spectrum of missions for Barracuda SNAs is as follows: anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, strike against land, crisis management, intelligence, special operations.
