NEWCLEO
NEWCLEO SA is part of the NEWCLEO Group, which aims to design, build and operate Generation IV Advanced Modular Reactors (AMRs) cooled by liquid lead and fuelled by reusable nuclear materials. With more than 850 highly qualified employees in France, the UK, Italy, Switzerland and Slovakia, the NEWCLEO Group has the skills and services needed to carry out its ambitious deployment program. The Group is also contributing to the development of a nuclear industry dedicated to small modular reactors, in Europe and beyond.
In this context, NEWCLEO SA aims to install its technology in ports, on floating platforms and inside civilian ships (to cover all their energy needs, including propulsion), in order to effectively decarbonize this sector.
.
Expertise in nuclear engineering, metallurgy and materials (studies and design of alloys capable of withstanding reactor operating conditions), R&D, reactor deployment and construction, study and manufacture of MOX nuclear fuel (U-Pu oxides), nuclear safety studies (design of safety systems, risk management and radiation protection control), thermomechanical calculations and simulations, feasibility studies concerning the manufacture of infrastructure and specialized equipment, legal expertise (compliance with local and international nuclear safety standards), sourcing, QHSE.
Small modular lead-cooled fast reactor (LFR) for powering marine industry and port facilities – 200 MW power
The LFR-AS-200 will be NEWCLEO’s commercial reactor, deployed singly or in multiple units. The first unit is expected by the end of 2032, a first-of-its-kind commercial machine that will be the start of a series of deployments at a variety of sites, and in particular heavy industrial sites such as shipyards and ports.
.
Transportable lead-cooled fast modular mini-reactor (LFR) to cover the energy needs of civil ships, particularly for their propulsion – 30 or 40 MW of power.
It’s infrequent maintenance and fuel replacement is carried out every 10 or 15 years in a specific structure. TL stands for “Transportable Longlife”
