VPLP Design
The firm was founded by Marc Van Peteghem and Vincent Lauriot-Prévost in 1983, after studying at Southampton Solent University.
VPLP Design is now a world-renowned young international team of French-based Naval Architects, Engineers and Designers working from Vannes, Nantes and Paris in sail and motor yachts projects across the world, for 40 years.
One of the VPLP’s most recent innovations involves the development of the patented reefable automatic wingsail, a veritable “wind drive” for reducing the fuel consumption of freighters and cruising boats. Development and marketing have now been entrusted to the startup Oceanwings.
In subsequent years, VPLP have structured the organization into 3 divisions to focus on separate sectors of the yacht market : Racing, Cruising and Maritime.
VPLP Design is first and foremost a naval architecture agency, whose core business is to sketch and then design a vessel based on an idea, a project, or a customer’s specifications.
The studio’s strength lies in its ability to innovate, the multidisciplinary nature of the team enabling it to take a cross-disciplinary approach and combine expert and varied skills in the service of the project.
VPLP Design is a benchmark for sailing ship designs, whether for racing, cruising or superyachts. It is also at the forefront of innovation in carbon-free shipping, with unique know-how in the design of hybrid power-assisted vessels.
The studio has state-of-the-art know-how for engineering studies, particularly in the fields of hydrodynamic modeling and simulation, performance prediction, composite design and engineering.
