SURVEY COPTER
Based in Pierrelatte, in the heart of the Drôme provençale region, SURVEY COPTER has been designing, producing and maintaining light tactical UAV systems since 1996. The company specializes in light UAV systems for both civilian and military applications. Since 2011, SURVEY COPTER has been an Airbus subsidiary. It designs all its systems (air vector, ground station, etc.), and integrates flight computers with the most advanced flight algorithms into its UAVs. SURVEY COPTER offers a complete service, including supply of systems and spare parts, training of operators and maintenance technicians, and associated documentation. The expert supports its customers throughout the entire lifecycle of their drone systems.
Survey Copter has a strong industrial base, and integrates all business categories. A design office, a dedicated production team, a flight department, an airworthiness office and numerous “support” functions: Purchasing, Portfolio, Finance, Sales, Communication, Quality, HR…In 2020, Survey Copter won a contract with the French Navy, SMDM – ”Systèmes de mini drones embarqués pour la Marine”. Certified and qualified by the DGA, and operational since 2022, SMDM, currently integrates and equips PHM, POM and FS to reinforce airborne surveillance, detection and identification capabilities. The system can carry out various types of missions around ships, such as tactical situation keeping, combating illegal activities at sea, traffic surveillance, pollution detection, monitoring suspicious behavior in the vicinity of the ship, and coastal surveillance.
Selected for the SMDM program, this lightweight tactical drone for maritime use adapts to all environments. Its advantages: discretion (electric motor), endurance (2×3 hours), elongation (50km) real-time day/night video, 360° panoramic vision, easy-to-use interface, automatic recovery system in on-board net, small logistical footprint (16kg, 15-minute deployment time), integration on ships with or without helicopter platforms.
The Aliaca ER is a high-endurance system capable of carrying out 6-hour missions within a range of 100km (54nm). Like all drones in the Aliaca range, Aliaca ER is launched by a catapult and ends its flight with automatic recovery in a net. With a maximum takeoff weight of 16 kg, a wingspan of 3.6 m and a length of 2.2 m, Aliaca ER is powered by a powerful kerosene-fuelled internal combustion engine. The system can be set up quickly and easily by just 2 operators. This dual-sensor system can handle the most demanding intelligence, tracking and target tracking missions. It is equipped with a high-performance gyrostabilized electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) payload and an AIS (Automatic Identification System), enabling it to detect ships within a radius of several hundred kilometers.
