PYTHEAS TECHNOLOGY
PYTHEAS Technology is a French SME, founded in 2015, specializing in the design and manufacture of piezoelectric components for underwater acoustics and ultrasound. We operate in the Defense, Medical and Aerospace markets. Our scope ranges from piezoceramics (the only French manufacturer) to transducers and antennas and their associated electronics.
Our components are integrated into a wide range of industrial applications.
Our components are integrated into our partners’ SONAR systems and UAVs (AUV, USV).
PYTHEAS Technology is a team of 25 employees, based in La Ciotat. The 1,000 m² production site includes 300 m² of cleanroom space, two assembly lines and two test basins. In 2020, we opened a joint laboratory with Centrale Supelec on electro-active materials (the SPyMS).
Our skills cover 4 main areas:
- the physics of electro-active materials,
- underwater acoustics (dimensioning and modeling),
- the mechanics of transducers and antennas,
- and finally, power electronics and signal acquisition and processing.
We design and manufacture submerged hardware components for SONAR (outboard) chains. Our technology portfolio covers transmitting transducers, receiving transducers (hydrophones), antennas and their electronics over a very wide frequency band.

Finally, we have in-house characterization tools: acoustic tank, dielectric bench, hyperbaric chamber enabling SONAR components to be qualified.
