The driving force behind maritime innovation in France and the French Overseas Territories, PÔLE MER MEDITERRANÉE was designated a world-class competitiveness cluster by the French government in July 2005, with the ambition of sustainably developing the maritime and coastal economy in the Mediterranean basin, Europe and the rest of the world.
In the southern Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, Occitanie and Corsica regions, the cluster brings together more than 500 members (SMEs, groups, research and training and ecosystems) around maritime and coastal themes with high societal and environmental stakes.

The Pôle Mer Méditerranée supports and actively contributes to the development of innovation in the maritime drone sector in the Sud Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, which is made up of an expert industrial fabric in aerial, land and marine robotics federated within Club Sud Drone.
This regional territory boasts a vast experimentation ground and test and trial platforms, notably in the Toulon Provence Méditerranée and Nice Côte d’Azur metropolises, enabling the organization of complex demonstrations of surface and underwater drone systems in real-life situations.

‘The Pôle Mer Méditerranée is a competitiveness cluster, a lever for national and regional maritime policy, a driver of competitiveness and a growth gas pedal for companies. Acting as a true driver of innovation, the Pôle Mer Méditerranée federates nearly 500 players (startups, SMEs, major groups, research and training organizations, ecosystem) around six strategic action areas: Defense, security and maritime safety; Naval and nautical; Marine energy and mining resources; Marine biological resources; Environment and coastal enhancement; Ports, logistics and maritime transport.’
The day-long demonstration of solutions for monitoring and protecting a body of water, supported by the Région Sud, the Toulon Provence Méditerranée Metropolis and the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, organized on October 06, 2021 by the Pôle Mer Méditerranée in partnership with the SAFE and OPTITEC clusters, was an opportunity to promote the excellence of the territorial drone industry to potential users, including the organizing bodies of the 2024 Olympic Games : a first in France, demonstrating the collaborative technological development potential of the industry’s players, whose capacity for innovation has been proven

A competitive cluster with a global vocation, the Pôle Mer Méditerranée aims to sustainably develop the maritime and coastal economy in the Mediterranean basin, Europe and the rest of the world. In the southern Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, Occitanie and Corsica regions, the cluster federates over 430 members, around maritime and coastal themes with strong societal and environmental challenges.
The Pôle Mer Méditerranée structures its strategy around 6 Strategic Action Areas: Defense, Maritime Safety and Security, Naval and Nautical, Marine Energy and Mining Resources, Marine Biological Resources, Environment and Coastal Enhancement, Ports, Logistics and Maritime Transport and 2 Transversal Axes: “Digital Transformation and Robotics” and “Ecological Transition”

The cluster now has more than 400 members (3/4 companies and 1/4 research and training) and has approved over 463 cooperative projects, representing an R&D effort of €1,124.64 million. 75% of these projects were co-financed by the public sector. 42 structuring projects (shared innovation platforms, ITE, IRT, Labex, Equipex…) were accredited for a total of €1703.68 M.
