OSE Engineering is a consulting firm specializing in digital engineering and artificial intelligence. Composed of 90% PhDs and engineers, OSE Engineering puts its expertise at the service of its customers to accelerate the technological maturity of innovative projects. Using our customers’ operational knowledge, we co-construct applications embedding cutting-edge algorithmic solutions to improve decision-making in the management of complex systems. We develop operational research and artificial intelligence algorithms for decision support tools and decision-making autonomy solutions integrated into maritime systems.

OSE Engineering specializes in solutions for the autonomous operation of unmanned platforms (USVs, UAVs). Working in partnership with drone manufacturers, system integrators, and communications and sensor specialists, OSE provides safe navigation algorithms as well as mission-specific algorithms.

Autonomous drone swarm control is one of OSE Engineering’s areas of expertise, with development ongoing since 2024. This involves the digital capability to enable a swarm to carry out a mission by assigning each vehicle a specific task, while taking into account unforeseen events and changing conditions encountered throughout the mission.

OSE Engineering is a center of expertise specializing in digital intelligence applied to engineering across the maritime, automotive, robotics, energy, defense, and mobility sectors.

As part of in-service support (MCO) and retrofit programs, we design operational digital solutions to improve the energy efficiency of vessels.

Through our onboard energy optimization solutions, we enhance the operational performance and energy efficiency of vessels, both during the development phase and throughout their operational lifecycle. Our approach is built on a deep understanding of our customers’ businesses and challenges, enabling us to co-develop pioneering, tailor-made solutions that are fully adapted to each operational context and specific requirement.

Scientific Research & Navigation Solutions

NaviTools is a software solution developed by OSE Engineering to predict and optimize vessel energy performance from the earliest stages of the design process. By combining advanced physical models, artificial intelligence, and multiphysics simulations, the tool makes it possible to assess vessel behavior under realistic navigation conditions in order to improve energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact.

The NaviTools approach is based on several complementary technological building blocks:

  • coupled modeling of vessel performance (VPP/PPP), taking into account speed, hull design, appendages, wind-assisted propulsion systems, and sea conditions
  • detailed simulation of the propulsion system, including engine architecture, efficiencies, propeller performance, and resistance to forward motion
  • machine learning algorithms leveraging navigation data to improve the accuracy of predictive models
  • statistical routing tools to identify the most efficient routes based on operational and weather constraints.
Infrastructure

NaviTools is used at a very early stage of the vessel development cycle. It enables users to compare different concepts, evaluate multiple energy configurations, simulate realistic operating scenarios, and help naval architects select the most relevant solutions before construction.

NaviTools is a decision-support tool designed for naval architects, shipowners, engineering firms, and equipment manufacturers. It facilitates the design of more efficient, energy-saving vessels that are better suited to the challenges of decarbonizing maritime transport.

Security, Safety & Environment

ODYSS:AI – Decision Support System is a decision-support solution developed by OSE Engineering to assist crews in maritime navigation. It leverages sensors already available onboard (radar, AIS, GNSS, inertial measurement unit, etc.) to build an enhanced picture of the navigational environment and provide real-time recommendations.

The solution is based on several complementary technologies:

  • advanced processing of signals from onboard sensors
  • multi-sensor fusion to produce a consistent representation of the maritime situation
  • trajectory modeling of surrounding vessels
  • artificial intelligence algorithms capable of anticipating risks and proposing appropriate actions.

ODYSS:AI – Decision Support System is an embedded intelligence platform that transforms data already available onboard into operational recommendations. It supports navigators in their real-time decision-making, enhances navigation safety, and represents a step toward increasingly autonomous maritime systems.

Infrastructure

One of the main use cases is collision avoidance assistance. The system continuously analyzes radar and AIS data, detects potentially hazardous situations at an early stage, and recommends optimized maneuvers in compliance with the international COLREG regulations, while incorporating navigators’ expertise. The objective is to enhance safety and facilitate decision-making without replacing the crew.

Beyond collision avoidance, ODYSS:AI’s architecture paves the way for other functionalities, such as:

  • detection of abnormal vessel behavior
  • identification of anomalies or GPS spoofing attempts
  • assistance in reducing vessel roll
  • overall improvement of risk management in navigation
