Founded in 1987, in Les Sables d’Olonne, OCEA specialises in aluminium shipbuilding. From the very beginning, OCEA has an internal design capacity and focuses on the management of the maritime territory and operations inside the Exclusive Economic Zone area. Specialising in the design, building and support of aluminium vessels, OCEA has rapidly expanded and  has delivered more than 350 vessels since its establishment. Today, with more than 550 employees, four production sites in France, one production site in the United Kingdom and one in the Philippines, OCEA delivers annually 15 to 20 vessels up to 120 m long.


OCEA offers a comprehensive range of innovative and competitive solutions to address the following markets:

OCEA’s maritime safety and security offer is composed of three complementary ranges of vessels: Maritime Safety to watch, monitor and secure the EEZ; Maritime Security to intervene, escort and deter; Auxiliary to know, protect and train.

Maritime Transport and Mobility

OCEA’s maritime transport and mobility offer is composed of three complementary ranges of vessels: waterborne mobility; ferry and fast ferry; and maritime transport.

Maritime Territory Administration

OCEA’s workboats are designed and outfitted for a wide scope of missions such as oceanographic and hydrographic surveys, marine life research as well as maritime territory planning and protection.

Transoceanic Yachts

All of OCEA’s yachts series, designed by world renowned naval architects and benefiting from OCEA technology, offer transoceanic autonomy for around the world navigations and nautical expeditions.

Maritime territory knowledge and management is a challenge for every country in terms of sovereignty, economical issues, safety and security at sea. Coast Guard, Maritime Police, Customs and Navies have to undertake a wide variety of missions in order to: Secure the Economic Exclusive Zone (EEZ), Ensure safety at sea, Anticipate and respond to threats, Manage resources and the Blue Economy.

OCEA accompanies its customers through a tailor-made service package ranging from logistics support studies to the in-service support of vessels. OCEA trains crews and maintenance technicians, both in France and on-site, provides technical assistance on-site, supply of spare parts and tools, and oversees the execution of maintenance. OCEA tailors its Support And Services (SAS) offer to the specific needs and organisation of each customer in order to accompany them in the long term in the operation and perpetuation of their assets.

Infrastructure

OCEA has an industrial organization in mainland France, a sister company in the United Kingdom (WSC), a subsidiary in Panama and a subsidiary in the Philippines, which enable it to provide all services and logistical support as close as possible to its customers throughout the world.

The OCEA Group has trained more than 2,000 sailors and officers and supports more than 150 vessels worldwide with on-site technical assistance teams. The group also regularly carries out fleet and infrastructure audits, and renovates vessels around the world.

GISMAN, an offshoot of the B.B.T company founded in 1862, has been an active member of the International Association of Maritime Signals (IAMS) since 1966. GISMAN joined the OCEA Group in 2001.
