About

Nuclear Valley is the only state-approved French nuclear cluster. Located in Bourgogne Franche-Comté and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, the cluster helps develop innovative, competitive solutions by mobilizing all companies in the French nuclear industry.
Today, the cluster has over 427 members, 56% of whom are small and medium-sized businesses, organized around four strategic business areas (SBAs) and two thematic commissions:
– SBA 1: equipment design and production;
– SBA 2: operation and maintenance;
– SBA 3: dismantling, recycling, storage and the fuel cycle;
– SBA 4: construction methods and nuclear structures,
– digital commission,
– medical nuclear & radiation protection commission.

The cluster provides its members with a wide range of services to help them meet their challenges. The cluster helps its members to gain a foothold in the civil nuclear and defense industry network by organizing various events and BtoB meetings. The cluster also provides support for innovation by helping to certify innovative projects. Each project is divided into one of the cluster’s four strategic areas of activity.
Nuclear Valley is also the operational coordinator of GIFEN’s R&D commission.
The cluster also supports its members in their economic development, organizing events to bring together companies and their prospects so that they can present their services and products; a dedicated club has been set up for these members to share their business opportunities and contacts.
The cluster is also involved in promoting training and employment. It is a founding member of the Université des Métiers du Nucléaire (UMN).

Rendez-Vous Nuclear Valley

‘Since its first edition in November 2017, the Rendez-Vous Nuclear Valley has become an unmissable reference event on innovation within the nuclear industry.The event is a full day dedicated to the industry’s strategic orientations, future markets, innovation and R&D, training and skills management. During the Rendez-Vous Nuclear Valley, BtoB business meetings are pre-programmed with the nuclear industry’s prime contractors and tier 1 suppliers. This is an opportunity for technology suppliers to present their products and services to the industry’s prime contractors.
Take advantage of this event to:
– strengthen ties between all players in the industry;
– engage in exchanges on major issues and markets;
– support training and international development;
– foster research and innovation and identify funding levers.
Each year, over 400 participants are expected and more than 1,000 BtotB meetings are organized during these days.’

Project managers

The mission of the project managers running each DAS is to support companies in their innovation process: from the emergence of the project to the market launch of the technologies resulting from it, via labeling, project set-up, follow-up and valorization, as well as support in the search for financing.
DAS 1: covers all activities relating to the development of materials, elaboration and manufacturing processes, digital simulation tools, control processes to guarantee the quality and integrity of mechanical nuclear equipment, control and command equipment and nuclear ventilation.
DAS 2: covers safety and operational requirements for operation and maintenance.
DAS 3: covers all requirements relating to dismantling, treatment/recycling, waste storage and disposal.
DAS 4: covers all requirements relating to civil engineering and nuclear concretes for the entire life cycle of this type of product, from design to construction, operation, dismantling and recycling.
