The ability to strike and destroy/neutralize enemy targets while maintaining an increased stand-off distance has become a real operational necessity. MBDA has proven its expertise in this field with the development and deployment of its SCALP/Storm Shadow cruise missile. This missile is the result of cooperation between France, Italy and the UK.
In order to provide armed forces with greater flexibility in carrying out deep strikes from both air and naval platforms, MBDA has developed the Missile de Croisière Naval (MdCN).
The EXOCET missile family, designed and produced by MBDA, comprises a range of stealthy, fire-and-forget, low-flying anti-ship missiles that are hardened against opposing countermeasures, making them ideally suited to the destruction of high-value naval targets. They can be fired in all climatic conditions, and are compatible with all types of platform:
– Ships (MM40) ;
– Aircraft and helicopters (AM 39) ;
– Submarines (SM 39) ;
– Côtières batteries (MM40).
The EXOCET family features over-the-horizon (OTH) firing capability and a host of operational advantages:
– Low radar signature ;
– Late seeker activation ;
– Very low-level grazing capability ;
– Enhanced electronic target discrimination and countermeasure (CCME) capability ;
– High penetration capability of state-of-the-art naval anti-aircraft defenses.
The EXOCET MM40 Block 3c, the latest generation of this successful family developed by MBDA, offers an extended operational range, enabling the missile to join the category of missiles with ranges of up to 200 km.

Sea Warden is a naval-based defence system against unmanned aerial and surface threats, based on our flagship Sky Warden ground-based counter-UAV product. Uncrewed air and surface threats are
increasing, posing a threat both to naval and merchant shipping, and to critical offshore infrastructure. Sea Warden provides a cost-effective, proportionate defensive system which is optimized for the naval environment and leverages MBDA’s expertise in the counter-UAV domain.
Sea Warden is a modular system capable of integrating and exploiting a wide range of sensors and effectors in order to provide a robust and timely response to UAV and USV threats. The modularity and scalability enable it to be offered as a standalone system or as an integrated component of an overall combat system. Sea Warden’s flexible interface enables it to be adapted to both naval shipping and maritime offshore platforms, protecting them from aerial or surface uncrewed threats.
Thanks to the integration of numerous sensors and its AI-based command and control system, Sea Warden also provides extremely reliable detection and identification capabilities, enabling analysis and proper response in all situations, particularly in coastal environments where airspace is complex (for instance at port with presence of seagulls). The system thus ensures optimal protection against a wide variety of drones, ranging from small remote-controlled models to larger devices, within a 7-kilometer radius (excluding use of MTOs). Its jamming system, combined with drone-interceptor technologies such as the Hit-to-Kill drone developed by MBDA and NOVADEM, enables the system to counter drones that may be operated for intelligence gathering or as part of subversive operations ranging from terrorism to acts of sabotage.

MBDA is present throughout the life of its missile systems, from the pre-project, design and production phases, through in-service support and mid-life refurbishment, to dismantling. In order to be as close as possible to the forces, our teams are based at 26 European sites, in offices around the world, and are also seconded to certain customer infrastructures.
