MARINE WEATHER INTELLIGENCE (MWI)
Marine Weather Intelligence (MWI) enhances marine weather forecasts, routing and alerts at sea, thanks to the contribution of artificial intelligence to the tools it develops. Founded in March 2023, the start-up brings together two experts with a passion for the maritime field: Christian DUMARD, a méo expert and router for 30 years, and Basile ROCHUT, an engineer specializing in AI.
MWI won the IFREMER innovation competition in June 2023. It is also a member of the ESA incubator.
MWI’s SaaS platforms target various maritime markets, from pleasure boating to sensitive offshore operations. The aim is to become the world’s leading provider of mobile analysis and innovative routing solutions for the shipping industry by 2026.
MWI’s core business is marine weather analysis. The excellent expertise developed is the fruit of decades of combined work with AI, and the heart of the start-up’s added value. These include maritime routing consultancy and safety alerts at sea.
Secondary skills include:
• scientific research: MWI works in close collaboration with leading scientific laboratories in 4 main areas of research;
• development of practical solutions: MWI’s research work with the laboratories is aimed at developing AI modules that are integrated into the platforms developed and marketed;

Designed for yachtsmen, superyacht captains and crews, as well as yacht charter companies and insurers, MWI Yachting is an innovative routing platform. Conceived and developed as the ‘Waze’ of the yachting world, it offers the following parameters:
– selection of the best weather mode (with reliability index),
– real-time route alerts (satellite and radar image monitoring, front detection, etc.),
– poles of information (weather, weather, etc.).),
– multidimensional performance polars,
– innovative routing thanks to AI,
– cruise planner,
– optimization of long-distance crossing routes.
Customers subscribe by subscription, and several versions are available: mobile/tablet version, hobbyist version, expert version, insurer/renter version.
