ELWAVE
ELWAVE develops and markets innovative detection, navigation and surface characterization solutions for complex underwater and industrial environments.
ELWAVE products are based on electrical sensory perception technology, known as “electric sense”, an electromagnetic technology inspired by the perception mode of fish living in turbid, confined environments where vision and sonar are ineffective.
These solutions are aimed at the defense, offshore energy and infrastructure (oil&gas, wind turbines, tidal turbines, ports, etc.) and industrial robotics sectors for detection, navigation assistance and environmental characterization.
Electrical sensory perception is based on the perception of distortions by the environment of an electrical field generated by the ELWAVE system: the sensor generates a very low-frequency electromagnetic field and measures the modulations of this field. Algorithmic processing then constructs a real-time, 360° electrical image of the environment, determining the size, shape, position and electrical nature (conductive/insulating, living/non-living) of disturbing objects.
ELWAVE designs, manufactures and markets its “standard” systems for the energy markets in particular. ELWAVE also develops and manufactures specific products for particular customer needs.

Founded in 2018, ELWAVE capitalizes on ten years of academic research conducted by the Institut Mines-Telecom Atlantique (Nantes, FRANCE) on “electric sense” technology. ELWAVE addresses civil and defense applications in maritime and underwater detection and navigation.
