ATHANOR ENGINEERING
ATHANOR ENGINEERING is a French company based in Paris, specializing in the maritime sector, and in particular in maritime safety and security. An innovative player in the design of AIS, for both civilian and military use, ATHANOR also designs low-speed data exchange solutions (VHF, IOT…), offering its customers tailored solutions for securing maritime zones or transferring data in the fields of safety or the environment, for example.
ATHANOR, the only AIS designer in France, distributes AIS/X, dedicated to institutional use, which today equip the entire French navy.
ATHANOR ENGINEERING’s activities focus on maritime safety and security. In the field of security, our work consists of developing solutions designed to share, confidentially, a zone situation, identify a potential threat, and broadcast in near-real time any threat detected and/or declared by one of the ships. In the field of maritime safety, ATHANOR ENGINEERING’s activities are linked to the development of AIS and its future evolutions (VDES).
The AIS/X™ transponder has been developed specifically to meet the needs of administrations involved in state action at sea. It is compatible with Class A AIS as well as Warship AIS (STANAG4668-4669). The transponder’s different emission modes (normal / discreet / silent) enable it to adapt to the different emission policies of the vessel fitted. The encrypted encryption mode enables information to be exchanged within different communities, whose corresponding keys (AES algorithm) can be stored in advance. Identity and position decoy functions, management of points of interest and the creation of false tracks make AIS/X a real tool in the fight against illegal trafficking or IUU fishing. The transponder is equipped with a self-control system (Built In Test Equipment concept) and alarms.
The BASIC box (Boîtier dès aux Services IP Côtiers) is an IP box dedicated to maritime côtiers uses:- Internet access (modem function), within the coverage area (côtière) currently offered by cell phone operators, the Internet connection can be used as a support for an Intranet connection (such as Intradef for the French Navy)- integrating GPS and AIS/X functions to establish a maritime situation, which can be remoted to land via Internet access.’
