ABYSSA
ABYSSA is a French company specialized in the exploration and high-resolution mapping of seabeds down to depths of 6,000 metres.
Through the use of underwater drones (AUV, ROV), ABYSSA supports maritime stakeholders and industrial operators in the acquisition, processing and analysis of underwater data. In the defence sector, its expertise notably covers the identification and recovery of objects at sea, cable monitoring, and UXO detection.
With its team of experts, ABYSSA develops an approach based on data value enhancement, operational safety and the reduction of environmental impact. The company is ISO 9001 certified and is currently in the process of obtaining ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification.
Exploration missions involving the deployment of underwater drones are at the core of ABYSSA’s activities. In addition to this operational component, ABYSSA also provides advisory and analytical services.
Prior to exploration missions, ABYSSA supports the definition of requirements and the design of the exploration campaign.
Through its scientific team, ABYSSA also carries out the analysis and interpretation of the data collected. By deploying non-intrusive sensors — acoustic, physical, chemical and optical — installed on underwater drones, ABYSSA conducts extensive mapping of the deep seabed. These maps serve as decision-support tools, particularly when assessing whether to protect or exploit deep-sea resources, and also contribute to the design and sizing of industrial projects such as submarine cables, deep-sea infrastructure and resource development projects.
