Naval Group and EDGE Sign Agreement for Rampart Firing Trials

On June 16th, 2026, Naval Group and HALCON (an EDGE Group subsidiary specializing in smart weapons) signed a cooperation agreement regarding firing trials of HALCON’s SKYKNIGHT air defense missile using Naval Group’s Rampart self-defense system.

The firing trials will be conducted in the UAE between 2026 and 2027. The campaign will feature a dual-phase approach: a land-based testing phase followed by critical trials at sea. This collaboration leverages HALCON’s expertise in precision-guided munitions and Naval Group’s deep experience in integrating weapon launching systems onto warships.

This initiative is strategic as it addresses the defense industry’s urgent need for adaptable, cost-effective solutions against evolving asymmetric threats like drones. By moving toward universal launchers that can accommodate diverse, international ammunition, the naval sector is shifting toward a modular, future-proof model of maritime security.
