Naval Group delivers the Hellenic Navy’s first Defence and Intervention Frigate

On December 18, 2025, in Lorient (France), Naval Group delivered the HS Kimon, the first Defence and Intervention Frigate for the Hellenic Navy (FDI HN), in the presence of Nikos Dendias, Greek Minister of Defense, and Catherine Vautrin, Minister of the Armed Forces and Veterans Affairs.

This first delivery to Greece comes two months after the delivery of the first FDI to the French Navy. The next two frigates for the Hellenic Navy will be delivered in 2026, while the fourth FDI HN, ordered in November 2025, will be delivered within three years.

A first-rate frigate, the FDI is designed to operate in high-intensity combat environments. Scalable and versatile, it has proven capabilities in all areas of combat (anti-aircraft, anti-submarine, anti-surface and asymmetric warfare) and is able to address both current and emerging threats.

The Hellenic Navy has also awarded Naval Group the initial contract for in-service support of the FDIs. Maintenance and upgrade operations will be carried out in close collaboration with Naval Group Hellas and Greek industrial partners, as part of a long-term Franco-Hellenic cooperation.
