On 19 and 20 May 2026 in Nantes, GICAN will take part in SEANERGY 2026 and will be present in the exhibition area as an institutional partner of the event. GICAN and SEANERGY share a common objective: to enhance the appeal and development of the maritime sector and offshore renewable energy, both in France and internationally.
SEANERGY has established itself as France’s leading international event for offshore renewable energy. The exhibition is a business forum bringing together all stakeholders in the sector to network, develop their business, share feedback and contribute to the development of all forms of offshore energy. The event covers a broad technological spectrum: fixed and floating offshore wind, tidal energy, wave energy, ocean thermal energy, floating solar, as well as related activities such as storage, digital technology, decarbonised maritime transport, drones and eco-designed materials.
This exhibition is of particular importance to GICAN because MRE now plays a vital role in the future of the maritime sector. Above all, it serves as a lever for decarbonisation. The European Commission emphasises that offshore renewables are set to become a major pillar of the future European electricity mix, whilst helping to reduce energy dependence, boost competitiveness and secure supply. The combined regional targets of Member States thus amount to 86–89 GW by 2030 and 355–366 GW by 2050 for offshore renewables.
Ocean energy is also a driver of industrial growth for the entire maritime ecosystem. In France, the Ministry for Ecological Transition points out that offshore wind benefits from significant potential, high productivity, low emissions and the ability to generate industrial activity and jobs. The national target is 15 GW installed by 2035, 18 GW by 2037 and 45 GW in operation by 2050. This ramp-up requires sustainable investment in specialised vessels, port infrastructure, offshore systems, cables, maintenance, digital services and the entire maritime value chain.
In this context, GICAN’s presence at SEANERGY is fully in line with developments in the sector. The exhibition offers a prime setting to meet major clients, identify emerging projects, keep abreast of technological developments and showcase the expertise of French companies in rapidly growing markets. By bringing together industry, academia, institutions and political stakeholders, SEANERGY plays a valuable role in shaping the sector and promoting its international profile.
Through its participation, GICAN aims to highlight that offshore energy is now at the heart of the challenges of energy transition, industrial sovereignty and the economic development of the maritime sector. For companies in the sector, it represents both a response to decarbonisation targets and a concrete opportunity for growth, diversification and innovation.
