GTT to design three 240,000 m³ onshore LNG storage tanks, the world’s largest featuring its GST technology

GTT has received an order from China Chengda Engineering to design three very-large-capacity onshore Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) storage tanks.

These tanks, each with a capacity of 240,000 m³, will be built for PipeChina as part of the Yuedong LNG terminal project, a strategic hub in southern China.

These tanks will be the world’s largest onshore LNG storage tanks to feature GTT’s GST® membrane full containment technology. This innovation reduces steel requirements by 40% and provides up to 10% additional storage capacity for the same footprint.

Beyond LNG, these facilities will offer the flexibility needed to store other liquefied gases such as ethane, propane, ethylene and ammonia. Delivery of these three storage tanks is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2028.
