GTT Energy strengthens its offering with two major maritime innovations

On September 15, 2026, GTT announced two strategic developments within GTT Energy: the launch of the LNG Performance Centre and a next-generation LNG fuel solution for container ships.

While 86% of LNG carriers in operation already integrate the French group’s technologies, GTT Energy is leveraging its feedback from 20,000 years at sea to design the LNG Performance Centre.

Designed as a decision-support tool for shipowners and charterers, this center of expertise combines thermodynamic data analysis with 24/7 human support provided by ship captains. The objective is threefold from a strategic standpoint: securing liquefied natural gas cargoes, streamlining vessel voyages, and monitoring the condition of containment membranes to reduce the overall environmental footprint.

At the same time, the company is targeting shipyards and cargo carriers with a standardized cubic geometry tank. This format facilitates industrial assembly while preserving useful onboard volume for container loading.

On a technical level, the membrane structure now accepts an operating pressure of 2 barg (a threshold validated by Lloyd’s Register and Bureau Veritas), inspired by the cruise ship sector. This feature makes it possible to store gas longer without venting during port stays, when engines consume little to no fuel.

This dual announcement illustrates the commitment of industrial companies gathered within the GICAN to foster the emergence of cleaner and economically viable maritime technologies.

As François Michel, CEO of GTT, explained, the group’s ambition remains to turn modeling and field data into levers for operational control and energy efficiency for shipowners.
